Ballmer (n): Good COO; poor in front of press; doesn't properly articulate an opinion; insert foot in mouth. "he continues to Ballmer his interviews."


So large companies are more attracted to free or low cost than they are to the browser?
"Ballmer: Google is neither free nor low cost. That's not a joke. We're talking about the enterprise. We're not talking about some screwball consumer thing now. We're talking about the enterprise. Google charges a very hefty price, comparable to our prices, when it comes to the enterprise."

If this is accurate, and there is no reason to believe it is not, MSFT's PR department should be steamrolled. In yet another botched answer to a question Ballmer let everyone know that he thought, 1) consumers are screwballs and 2) Google is very expensive. So much so that they are almost as expensive as MSFT.

I think I know what he was trying to say. But he didn't say it very well. There is ZERO value in sending him around on these interviews. MSFT needs to put a pro in front of the press. Why the heck do they need Ballmer as a front man. The answer is they don't.
